Building up on the advantages and strengths of the KTM 790 Duke, the KTM 890 Duke R gets an upgraded 890cc engine.
We all know that users anticipate and await the new motorcycles from KTM and this one is no different. The Austrian manufacturer has finally taken the wraps off its 2020 890 Duke R motorcycle at the EICMA 2019. Based on the 790 Duke platform, this new middleweight bike is Euro 5 compliant and gets an upgraded 890cc engine, which has been upsized from the 790cc engine present on the 790 Duke.
The new motorcycle gets a host of advanced electronic features. Some of them are listed below:
- Cornering ABS with Supermoto mode
- APEX suspension from WP
- Brembo brakes package
- Six-Axis Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU)
- Traction control motor slip regulation
- Up/down quickshifter
- Four-Piston Stylema Calipers at the front.
The 890 Duke R has a curb weight of 166kgs, which makes it one of the most sportier and edgy bike in its category. Powering the naked-motorcycle is an all-new 890cc parallel twin engine that churns out 117hp and 99Nm of peak torque.
The KTM 890 Duke R will hit the European markets by mid-2020 and is expected to go on sale by end-2020. Since, it is Euro 5 compliant and with India’s BS-6 regulations arriving next April, we expect that this model might get launched by the third quarter of 2020. But, with the updated package, don’t expect it to come cheap and will be launched at a higher price than the current 790 Duke.
