In order to woo consumers in China, Skoda has unveiled a sportier version of the Kamiq SUV, which as of now, is exclusive to the country.
The Skoda Kamiq GT has been revealed to spice things up in the Chinese small crossover car segment and joins the Kodiaq GT, which again is a China-only model. The Chinese cousin of the Kamiq, the SUV gets cosmetic upgrades, while being based on the regular Kamiq.
Designed at the headquarters and at SAIC Skoda, the Kamoq GT comes with a sportier look that includes additional chrome treatment at the exteriors, sharp headlamp cluster revised bumpers, new 17-inch alloy wheels, wider LED tailights, new graphics and a coupe roofline, which merges in the rear. The new crossover is 19mm longer than the standard variant, other things remaining constant. A dual-tone treatment is also available for the Kamiq GT, but is optional, as of now.
Coming to the inside of the SUV, they remain practically same as the one in the standard model, except for the fact that there are GR emblems on the dashboard and headrests, new stitching and horizontal stripes on the seats. Since, it is a sportier version, it comes loaded with features like:
- Climate Control
- 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Baidu CarLife amongst others
- Virtual Instrument Console
- Multi-Function steering wheel
- Panoramic Glass Roof
- New Modern Gold metallic paint
Under the hood, the new crossover SUV is expected to come with a petrol only engine option, but with different calibrations. A 1.5-liter MPI engine that makes 109hp is expected together with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 114hp, both mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission.
Unfortunately, the Kamiq GT will not make its way to India, as the car manufacturer wants to roll out a Kamiq SUV specifically developed for the country, in 2020.
